So you want to become ISO Certified? Let’s break down what that looks like and how I can help as an ISO Consultant.
Stage 1 - Gap Analysis
This stage consists of a remote GAP Analysis and an internal audit report with recommendations. A review is conducted of projects, procedures, forms and current systems. From there, I will provide the information with recommendations. This might be identifying a resource within the business to assist with the implementation and identifying additional needs for systems, such as an HR Management System or Document Control System.
Stage 2 - Implementation
Implement procedures and forms and streamline the system. Merrin Co will ensure the MS ( Management System) complies with any tender requirements. A management review meeting is conducted, and training is provided to the Director, Management and staff.
The system is then ready for Stage 1 Documentation Review with the Certification Body. Any non-conformances are corrected, and Stage 2 of the Certification Audit is conducted. If there are any non-conformances, these are fixed, and the Certification is issued.
So what will this cost?
Most quotes are bespoke; however, here are the ballpark figures.
Small to Medium Business up to 15 staff or contractors requiring Quality Management Certification or OH&S Management System Certification or Environment Management System Certification (separate stand-alone system) Management System - $4 000 - $6 000.
Small to Medium Business up to 15 staff or contractors Integrated Management System Certification (Quality, OH&S, Environment Combined) - $8 000 - $15 000.
Large Business 15 - 100 staff or contractors Quality Management Systems - $10 000 - $ 30 000.
Enterprise or large businesses 100 + staff are usually bespoke and depend on a range of factors, risks and management levels.
Some of the factors that determine price are;
Risk - what are the risks of the business and its procedures and the type of work being carried out.
Management Levels - there may be multiple contractors but only one management role. This will reduce the cost of certification and consulting.
Type of Work Conducted - if there are complex processes or high-risk work involved, this will increase certification and consulting costs.
Existing Management System - If there is an existing system in place, such as streamlined and documented procedures, forms or manuals, this will reduce the cost of consulting but not affect the certification audit price.
Number of Locations - if there are multiple locations included in the scope of the system, this will affect the cost of both Consulting and Certification Auditing. The consultant and Auditor will be required to sample work and procedures and interview staff from each location.
